Interior design for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire homes

Home office corner with white panelled walls, a ticking stripe desk skirt and a mood board of fabric samples, designed by Fay Allison Interior Design in Derbyshire.

Your home is probably the biggest thing you'll ever buy. It makes sense to look after what goes into it in the same way.

Most people who get in touch are at one of these points. Find yours and you'll know where to look.

Start here: a free 30-minute intro call

Not sure which fits? Book a free 30-minute intro call. Tell me about the house and what you're trying to get done, and I'll tell you which package fits.

Not a design session, so we won't be choosing your paint colours on it. It's a chance for us both to see if we'd work well together.

You're stuck on a decision.

Consultation, £200

The paint's been sampled on three walls for a month, or you're about to order a sofa and something's nagging at you. You don't need a full design, you need someone to look at it and tell you what to do.

  • A 90-minute consultation at your home or on Zoom, after a short questionnaire so we don't spend the first half hour on the basics

  • A follow-up report summarising your next steps

Home visits are within 10 miles of my studio, near Morley, Derby. Further out costs a little extra

You know which room, you just can't pull it together.

Room Design, £595

Maybe you've got a Pinterest board, a few pieces you love and a room that still doesn't feel finished. You want a plan you can buy from and follow yourself.

• A home consultation to understand the space, what you like and what isn't working

• A written summary of that visit for you to check and approve

• A full design presentation: colour scheme, furniture, fabrics, lighting, layout and accessories on a mood board

• A samples board, so you can see and feel the actual materials and finishes

• A shopping list with direct links, so buying it is the easy part.

You want the room designed and delivered.

Room Design Plus, £795

The same as Room Design, but I do the ordering, delivery management and brief your trades, so your evenings aren't spent comparing suppliers.

  • Furniture and accessories ordered for you, so you're not the one chasing lead times

  • Your trades briefed, so they know the finish expected before they start

You're starting from scratch and the builder needs answers.

Signature Home Brief, £950

The best time to bring a designer in is at design stage, while the house is still on paper. This is the way to do that without committing to a full design.

  • The feel of the house, on a concept board with a short written description

  • A colour palette and how it flows from room to room

  • Key materials and hard finishes, like floors, timber and stone

  • Signature metals for ironmongery, taps and light fittings

  • Joinery and storage ideas marked on your plans

  • Where to spend and where to save

  • A few key samples, presented together, ideally with you in the room

The result is one clear brief for the whole house, agreed early, that your builder can work to. Every decision on floors, stone, joinery and finishes is made with the whole house in mind. And if you go on to book a Complete Design Package of four rooms or more within three months, the £950 comes off that fee

It's multiple rooms, or the whole house.

Complete Design Package, priced on the project

A renovation, a new build, an extension, or a period property that needs thinking about as one home instead of a string of rooms.

I start with a site visit and full measure, and you see up to two design directions before anything's signed off. From there I plan every room, design the lighting, brief your trades, order everything and I'm on site for the install and the final styling.

If you're not ready to commit to the complete package yet, start with the Signature Home Brief.

How it works

  1. We talk. A free 30-minute intro call, so I understand the house and you get a feel for me.

  2. I come and see it. Rooms look different in person. I measure up, look at the light and ask a lot of questions about how you actually live there.

  3. I design it. You get the plan, the scheme and everything you need to make decisions with confidence.

  4. It comes together. Either you take the plan and run with it, or on the Complete Design Package I handle the ordering and trades and we finish with styling day.

Where I work

I'm based in Stanley Common and work with homeowners across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, including Duffield, Belper, Allestree, Quarndon, Darley Abbey, Ashbourne and the Peak District, and over towards West Nottinghamshire. If you're a little further out, ask. I'd rather have the conversation than say no on a postcode

If there's a room you've been putting off, or a decision you're about to spend real money on, book a free 30-minute intro call and we'll talk about working together on it.
